“After 26 years I saw John Cale again, last week.  The last time he played the
Redoutensaal, Erlangen and he was so loud, that my wife had to leave the concert and
listen to it from outside, for fear for the child she was carrying in her womb. This time he
played at the Hirsch in Nuremberg, a small club, and the aforementioned child worked
there as a sound a light technician.  Ain't that cool or what?!

John and his band played it straight: hard and loud and, as usual, very cool, except for the
occasional freaking out.  Mr. Boyed plays a mean guitar and the whole band was tight.
The club was packed with folks of of all ages and a damn good time was had by all.

I let my Zoom H2 run rather leisurely on its internal mics and when I reviewed the result
I found it rather dull and lacking in the high frequencies. So I was glad to see
truemmerfeld's upload of the roxoli recording. In fact I was very pleased with its treble
but the Olympus LS-5 didn't pick up a lot of bass with its internals.  So I decided I'd give
a matrix a try.

Now, many a matrix offering has not lived up the its promise and especially combining two Bs
of a sort will usually not produce an A.  But this time it did, at least in my book;
ymmv but it my opinion this a a major upgrade to the original tapes.  The matrix was
done in a simple way, nothing fancey; I just loaded the two versions of each track into
CoolEdit2k's multitrack editor, aligned them carefully, lowered the Zoom source by 1.5 –
3dB and cleaned up the bounderies and the clapping a bit.  I also left out the intro drone
and cut the encore clapping down to about half a minute to create a better listening
experience.  Of course it should be played loud, but in my headphones this does match
the concert rather well.” (Taper – Source 1)
